Subject: Reqeust to send suggestions relating to Corporate Law Firms, other Law Firms and entry of foreign law firms for the proposed amendments in the Advocates Act, 1961.
Respected Sir/Ma’am
The Advisory Committee headed by Hon’ble Shivaraj V. Patil, former Judge Supreme Court of India held its meeting on 11.2.2017.  The proposed amendments submitted by the various sub-Committees of Advisory Committees were considered in the meeting.  The additional subject relating to Corporate Law Firms and such other law firms that are to be regulated by the Bar Council of India as well as the entry of foreign law firms  also came up for discussion before the Hon’ble Committee.  The proposals made by Hon’ble Mr. Justice Pradeep Nandrajog and Mr. Lalit Bhasin were also placed before the Committee.  The Committee felt that in view of the Section 47 of the Advcoates Act, 1961, deeper deliberation and serious consideration is required on the aforementioned subject.
Hence, in the light of the above observations, we would like to request you to provide/submit additional comments/suggestions, if any, in addition to the suggestions provided by you in the past, so that the same may be forwarded to Hon’ble Mr. Justice Shivaraj V. Patil.
The suggestions already received from Hon'ble Members are attaching herewith.
Yours sincerely,
Bar Council of India
